How Vulcan Handles Product Data
Wearable technology can collect highly personal information. We believe people should understand what information is collected, why it is used and who can access it.
This page explains Vulcan’s general approach to product data. The specific privacy notice and terms provided when a Vulcan product is issued will explain the arrangements that apply to that product, user and deployment.
1. Who Is Responsible for Your Data?
Vulcan products and platforms are developed and operated by Vulcan Augmetics Pte. Ltd., based in Singapore.
Who is legally responsible for personal data may depend on how the product is provided. When Vulcan works with a hospital, clinic or research organization, that organization may determine how patient information is used, while Vulcan processes it on the organization’s behalf. In other situations, Vulcan may be directly responsible for some or all of the information.
The detailed notice provided with the product will identify the applicable arrangement.
2. What Information May Be Collected?
Depending on the product and how it is used, Vulcan may handle:
- Account and contact information;
- Information about an exercise or rehabilitation program;
- Muscle-activity and movement measurements;
- Range of movement, repetition and exercise-session information;
- Physiological measurements such as heart rate, blood oxygen and temperature;
- Results, trends and reports generated from these measurements; and
- Device, application, connectivity and technical-support information.
Vulcan products collect only the information needed for their intended functions and the applicable deployment.
3. How Is the Information Used?
Product data may be used to:
- Operate the wearable device and connected software;
- Record and display measurements from an exercise or movement;
- Show changes and trends over time;
- Share information with the user and their authorized care team;
- Support assigned exercise programs and reporting;
- Maintain security, reliability and technical performance;
- Provide support and troubleshoot problems; and
- Meet legal, regulatory, research or contractual requirements.
Vulcan does not use the platform to make independent diagnoses or replace the judgment of a qualified healthcare professional.
4. Who Can Access the Information?
Access is limited according to the user’s role and the way the product is deployed. This may include:
- The individual using the product;
- Their authorized clinician or care team;
- The participating healthcare or research organization;
- Authorized Vulcan personnel where needed to provide and support the system; and
- Service providers that host, secure or maintain the platform on Vulcan’s behalf.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law, necessary to protect a person’s safety or needed to investigate misuse or a security incident.
Vulcan does not sell identifiable patient or product-generated data. We do not use it for unrelated advertising or allow advertisers to target users based on their health, rehabilitation or sensor information.
5. Research and Product Improvement
Vulcan may use data to evaluate, validate and improve its technology or to support approved research where permitted by the applicable agreement, consent and law.
Where appropriate, information is aggregated or de-identified before it is used for these purposes. Identifiable product data will not be provided to an unrelated third party for independent research or AI training without an appropriate legal basis and authorization.
Participation in a clinical study may be governed by separate research information and consent documents.
6. How Is Information Protected?
Vulcan uses administrative, technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information and deployment. These include restricting access according to role and business need, protecting information during storage and transmission, managing service providers and monitoring for unauthorized activity.
No technology can eliminate every security risk. Vulcan maintains procedures for investigating incidents and notifying affected individuals, organizations or authorities when required.
7. How Long Is Information Kept?
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the product, support the applicable healthcare or research program, meet contractual requirements and comply with law.
Retention periods may differ between account information, sensor recordings, reports, research records and technical logs. The notice provided with the product will explain the applicable retention arrangements.
8. International Data Processing
Information may be processed in Singapore, Vietnam or other countries where Vulcan or its approved service providers operate.
Where information is transferred internationally, Vulcan and participating organizations will use the contractual, organizational or other safeguards required by applicable law.
9. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on the applicable law and deployment, individuals may be able to:
- Request access to or correction of their personal information;
- Request deletion or restriction of certain information;
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- Object to certain uses or request a copy of their information; and
- Make a complaint or ask how their information is being handled.
Some requests may be subject to legal, medical-record, research or contractual retention requirements. Where a healthcare or research organization is responsible for the information, Vulcan may refer the request to that organization.
Where a product is used by a minor, the participating organization and Vulcan will apply the consent and privacy requirements appropriate to the individual’s age and location.

The full privacy notice and terms applicable to a Vulcan product will be provided when the product or platform is issued or activated.
